Photograph of WSC in an open carriage [a jaunting car], on his way to Ulster Hall in Belfast [Northern Ireland, to receive an honorary degree as a Doctor of Laws], surrounded by crowds of men, who fill the whole street. WSC is smiling, sitting slewed round in the carriage beside the driver, grasping the carriage rail with one hand and holding a [?] shillelagh in the other. He is wearing an overcoat with an astrakhan collar, a spotted bow tie and a [green] hat with something stuck in the hat band. [The students had presented him with the hat and shillelagh].
